Hocus Focus: November 2009 - Third Street Stuff

9:00 PM Nov. 6th through 9:00 AM Nov. 7th -- Of course, 3rd St Stuff will be open all day on the 6th & 7th, so feel free to arrive earlier or depart later than the listed times.

Third Street Stuff and Coffee is going to be hosting the first Buildycrunken event. They are going to keep the cafe open through the night so we can have a place to work. Any project is okay, so long as it doesn't interfere with others (IE: no solder fumes in the cafe, though the tables outside may be available).

Buildycrunken is about collaboration and creation. Can you do something with others? Great! Can you do something alone, but in the presence of others toiling toward a similar goal? Fantastic! If you bring friends that is wonderful, but even if you don't, still come meet people. Here is a partial list of who is involved:

  • ReBelle Stitch & Bitch will be on site.
  • National Novel Writers' Month's Lexington writers will be typing away.
  • Collexion, Lexington's technology collective will be working on various projects.
  • Kentucky Ruby Users Group will be working on their web project for a local nonprofit.
  • UK Students will be catching up on class work, including senior design projects and dissertations.
  • Gamers will be playing D&D, Magic, Diplomacy, Werewolf/Mafia, Scrabble and anything else that strikes their fancy.

Join us as we drink coffee and do stuff. It's fun to stay up past your bedtime.

If you're still uncertain about what is allowed, or if you will be welcomed, either a) know that everyone is welcome, every non-disruptive/super-dangerous activity is permissible; or, b) send a message to the Collexion mailing list asking for clarification. This is definitely going to be the most fun of anything you're going to do between Halloween and Christmas, and maybe even all year. Plus, not only are you having fun, but you're getting things done. Fun + Done. Buildycrunken.
