Tinker

Tinker is an annual festival highlighting creativity on an individual level.

Check out the Facebook event page for Tinker #1

Tinker is a festival to celebrate the basement dwellers, backyard builders, and garage innovators in our midst. So often we toil in isolation, or in small, like-minded packs, and the rest of the community is unaware of what their neighbors are doing. One day out of the year, we're going to get the recognition we deserve. We're going to have a light-hearted atmosphere where you can show off your hacks and let people interact with them. You can talk to people and get them interested in what you're interested in.

There are three aspects of the event: demonstrations, presentations, and competitions. Anyone is welcome to set up a table, like you did in your 7th Grade Science Fair. Some of the best and brightest will be invited to present on how they do the things they do. We're also setting up some competitions that you can participate in or spectate, with a slant toward robotics, code, and physics.

At Tinker you can:
  • Show off your robot with laser eyes
  • Hack into computers
  • Meet other makers
  • Learn about new tools and applications
Update: 2010-02-24 CFP is available, please submit if you want to talk or set up a table.
